TCU Cornerback Josh Newton earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors for his performance in 2023, following a First Team selection for the Horned Frogs in 2022. He will now have the opportunity to improve his draft stock and further impress NFL scouts and coaches in the 2024 Senior Bowl.

Newton spent two seasons in Fort Worth after transferring to TCU from UL-Monroe prior to the 2022 season. He started all 15 games of TCU’s run to the National Championship game in 2022, often targeted by opponents as he lined up on the other side of Thorpe Award winner Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson. During his two seasons with the Horned Frogs he accumulated 68 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 24 passes defensed. Newton was the top-rated defensive player for TCU each of the last two seasons, per PFF Grades, earning a rating of 82.0 in 2022 and 77.7 in 2023.

Per Mock Draft Database, Newton is projected as the No. 47 overall player in the 2024 NFL Draft, with many mock drafts projecting him as a First Round selection, as high as 16th overall. The 2024 NFL Draft will take place from April 25-27, live from Detroit, Michigan.

The Senior Bowl is the premier pre-draft showcase for draft-eligible prospects to go head-to-head in a week of practice, culminating in a live game. The 2024 Senior Bowl is scheduled for February 3, 2024 in Mobile, Alabama and broadcast on the NFL Network. In 2023, TCU had five players participate in the Senior Bowl, all of whom were drafted: QB Max Duggan, OL Steve Avila, WR Derius Davis, DL Dylan Horton, and LB Dee Winters. Newton will be joining TE Jared Wiley and OL Brandon Coleman as Horned Frogs at the Senior Bowl in 2024.
