TCU football’s enormous Saturday in the transfer portal continued late into the afternoon, when former Austin Peay defensive back Jevon McIver Jr. announced his commitment to the Horned Frogs on social media. McIver Jr. became the fourth transfer portal addition of the day for the Horned Frogs, who also secured pledges from New Mexico State’s Andre Seldon as well as Old Dominion’s LaMareon James and Memphis safety Cameron Smith.
McIver Jr. earned First-Team All-UAC honors during the 2023 season, recording 61 total tackles as well as 13 passes defensed and one interception for Austin Peay in the FCS ranks. The 6-foot-1, 177-pounder from Charlotte, North Carolina added a forced fumble during his 2023 season, where he appeared in 12 games and notched 39 solo tackles. McIver Jr. began his collegiate career at Division II Lenoir-Rhyne, where he totaled 16 tackles and three passes defensed during the 2022 campaign. McIver Jr. becomes the third defensive back transfer added by TCU this offseason, joining Smith and former Tulsa safety Jaise Oliver.
