TCU cornerback Josh Newton has performed at an elite level over the last two seasons, earning All-Big 12 honors twice and becoming one of the highest-graded corners in college football by Pro Football Focus. In a move that should surprise no one, Newton announced his declaration for the 2024 NFL Draft in a social media post on Friday. Newton spent two seasons at TCU after transferring in from Louisiana-Monroe, earning All-Big 12 First Team recognition during the 2022 season and Second Team recognition during the 2023 season.

Newton appeared in 27 games over his two seasons with the Horned Frogs, totaling 68 tackles and four interceptions along with 24 passed defensed and 2.5 tackles for loss during that timeframe. The 6-foot cornerback from Monroe, Louisiana began his collegiate career at Louisiana-Monroe, where he spent three years and compiled 84 total tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss over 34 games. Newton added three interceptions and 18 passes defensed before transferring to TCU, where he served as the No. 2 cornerback alongside Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson in 2022 before becoming the team’s No. 1 cornerback in 2023.
