The defensive lineman from Houston opened his redshirt freshman campaign with a bang, securing three sacks in the first three weeks, taking down Shedeur Sanders in the season opener then bringing down Houston’s Donovan Smith twice in the conference opener. While those would be the only sacks he’d get on the season, it was enough to finish tied for second on the team.

Headed into his sophomore campaign, Oyewale has impressed through spring camp and will be called upon as a major contributor in 2024, potentially filling a starting defensive end role.

Through two seasons in Fort Worth, Black has not yet seen in-game action, but the five-star punter/kicker combo was ranked as the No. 44 specialist of the 2022 class per Kohl’s kicker ratings, which described the Peoria, AZ native as having “one of the better legs we have seen in the 2022 class. Black’s overall coordination is impressive for a high school player. He is a very long specialist who may still have room to develop athletically. “ With vacancies atop the depth chart at both punter and kicker, Black will be among the competitors for these starting roles in 2024.
