Iowa State is so bad it's even bad at being bad. The Cyclones can't generate a good scandal when its players screw up.

Here's what had to passes for a scandal in Ames: a couple of athletes bought alcohol for minors. Whoopdy-freakin'-do. One of the athletes was a redshirt freshman on the football team, a no-account no-gametime player named Quenton Bundrage (he does get cool name points, however).

No, losing a redshirt freshman to an alcohol-related charge ain’t gonna create enough interference on the field to change the narrative of your season, to make wins feel like they mean more. Even Not Steele Jantz is unimpressed.

But, really— [cue Crocodile Dundee accent] that’s not a scandal. This is a scandal, Cyclone pups.

Lose your starting QB, or a quartet of starters, or all but one of your linebackers, or all your offensive tackles. Then you got a story to tout with your 3-1 record. Then you can thump your chest about how bad you are, while winning.

TCU will show you how-- the scoreboard don't lie, kids. The Horned Frogs'll beat you with half a team. It'll send you home losers, and the story is still about how many of TCU's players aren't on the field. It's the Fort Worth way.
